A few weeks after the Spring soccer season at EYSA wrapped up, the team got together to watch the pros play and take notes. We met at the Louisville Slugger Field for a match between LouCity FC and FC Cincinnati. Even though the game ended in a draw, Louisville looked to be the better team as they dominated much of the ball possession time. The kids had fun watching the games, but I would say the highlight was all the sweets they had while we were there. Caleb had birthday cake Dippin’ Dots as a treat. School might be back in session, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try to find one more summer adventure before everything closes up. Yesterday we ventured to Leitchfield for some fun in the water. Since school has started the Aquatic Center in Leitchfield is only open on the weekends until Labor Day, but they have more operating hours during the summer in case you want to plan ahead for next year.
This fun water place is only 35 minutes away from our side of town and the weather was perfect for the type of activity we were expecting at the LAC. The entry fee wasn’t bad, the cost was twenty bucks for two adults and a six year old. Food was decently priced as well, three big pieces of pizza was going to cost $9 so we opted for a whole (medium) pizza which had eight regular slices for $10.
Shade was a little sparce, but we managed to snag a spot in the shade when we were relaxing. The rest of the time we were in the water; either in the lazy river, water slide (Caleb was a few inches too short to ride), pool with diving board, lily pads, kiddie spot with a little slide, or the kiddie area with the huge bucket that dumps water when full. There’s enough to do here for hours before realizing it’s time to go home.
It’s hard for me to describe in words how much fun the three of us had so please let the video below do the talking for me!
I might add that the entire place was pretty clean. The men’s restroom looked freshly mopped when we arrived and it seemed that way again when we were getting ready to leave. Sure a lot of wet feet come in and out of there, but I noticed the entire floor to be wet both times I went inside.

The Medders Nation joined the Barzee Nation for a glorious family reunion at a resort on the banks of the Kentucky Lake. The rock quarry was a short boat ride across the lake from where we were staying and I was super excited to get a chance to jump the cliffs. The video below highlights our jumps off the area I called the mediums. Later, I’ll add the footage of the higher point we jumped off of.
Safety first! There’s a few simple steps to jumping in the water from high ground.
- Pick your spots. Find even ground to jump from and look over the edge so you know approximately where you want to hit the water. Also pay attention to any objects you will want to avoid on the way down or in the water.
- Tuck your hands to your side. Before you splash you will want to tuck you hands, because slapping the water hurts.
- Hold your breath. Wait until just before impact so you don’t lose your breath while under water.
- Close your eyes! I wear contacts so this is a must to prevent them from falling out.
One of the worst things you could do is run to the edge and stop. Other people are jumping from the same area so the path is most likely wet and you could easily lose traction. That’s how people slip and hit the rock wall on the way down.
If you have more tips for jumping off cliffs please let me know in the comments section at the bottom.

In case you were wondering I used Caleb’s blue HTC Re camera to record our adventure in high definition. The camera is waterproof (no special case required!). Check out AMAZON for their latest deals on the HTC Re.
Caleb loves his cousins and he also loves birthday parties so when he heard that Bryce was having a party at Conder’s he was all in. Bryce comes from a family of paintball players; Dad, big bro Michael and big bro Jonathan all play and now he’s at a good age to dive in to the field and get marked up. Bryce had a good crowd of friends and a couple of their dads played too. We had about 14 ballers on the field today. [Read more…] about Party time at Conder’s Paintball
