Making of: 1st Annual Kentucky Craft Beer Festival video

I started working on this video in late June, but it kind of got sidelined for a while for no real reason at all. Just the typical me struggling to finish a task.

Case and point. Today I loaded the dishwasher, but left 2 things sitting on the counter, technically holding me up from marking the task off my list. WTF?

Anyways, I uploaded this video to YouTube early one morning this week and now I’ve added the tags and description that I think should accompany the video on it’s journey  on the Internet.

I really want to thank my brother-in-law, Allen for letting me use the music from his band, Mays Run in my video. They’re a local band with a lot of talent and I thought they were a perfect match for a beer festival rooted in Kentucky and a couple of surrounding states.

The beer festival was refreshing. I think I paid something like $35 for a VIP ticket that got me into the drinking area an hour before regular admission and a t-shirt. Early entry was crucial, because near the end of the venue the breweries started running out of alcohol and some people were just walking in the doors. *Note if you plan to attend next year, get the VIP tickets!

I was able to use an intro and outro from my new source for customizable video renders and I got to try out a new alpha technique when introducing the Blue Stallion beers.  Here’s a list of all the beers that were on tap at the event.

In the video you get to hear me slurring some words which is all courtesy of the fine brews that were on hand at the 2016 Kentucky Craft Beer Festival. My second beer of the day had at least 10% alcohol content and was good to the last drop.

Team Mexico watches LouCity FC Pro Soccer game

A few weeks after the Spring soccer season at EYSA wrapped up, the team got together to watch the pros play and take notes. We met at the Louisville Slugger Field for a match between LouCity FC and FC Cincinnati. Even though the game ended in a draw, Louisville looked to be the better team as they dominated much of the ball possession time. The kids had fun watching the games, but I would say the highlight was all the sweets they had while we were there. Caleb had birthday cake Dippin’ Dots as a treat.

Trip to Red River Gorge

Last week was filled with excitement as we prepared for our trip to Red River Gorge on Friday. Aimee and I texted back and forth throughout the week about how quickly our trip was coming up and that we couldn’t wait to get away for a bit. I had Friday off, thanks to all you Veterans out there, so we headed out the door shortly after Aimee made it home from her morning class. The drive was a little over 2 hours and Caleb was a happy traveler like always. We stopped for some lunch and then got back on the road.

Once we arrived in the Red River Gorge area, we met up with Phil and his 2 daughters; Erin and Alise to explore into the Daniel Boone National Forest where Aimee visited in her childhood. The entrance to the forest required us to drive through the Nada Tunnel, a hole carved through solid rock only wide enough for one lane of traffic at a time. After a short hike to a suspension bridge we met up with the Mills Family and checked into our housing for the next couple nights, a large 3 bedroom log cabin.

The cabin was everything I expected and more! Big rooms, a game room with a pool table, big wrap-around deck with a hot tub on it, fire pit out back, a kitchen full of amenities, the works… When we weren’t out hiking we were enjoying a comfortable stay in our cabin with friends. Art and Phil are a couple of my cigar buddies so we had our own little Fumadores Cigar Club hangout and broke out the corn hold boards the cabin owners provided. The deck was so large Caleb was able to ride his Strider up and down it.

Caleb had fun playing and chasing the other kids all weekend. Thanks to Ethan, Maya, Alise, and Erin for being so entertaining to him!

Hiking was amazing. We visited several points of interest; Sky Bridge, Angel’s Windows, Natural Bridge, and Chimney Rock. The two bridges were made of large rocks with the bottom middle missing to form a bridge and both trails took us over and around the bridges putting in perspective how high we were.

The weather was perfect in my opinion. It got a bit chilly at night and the wind blew constantly while we were there, but it was nothing to complain about. Thanks to everyone that went with us and we hope to do it again sometime.
